Methodist Church of Ghana, Gethsemane Society in Baatsona implementing waste segregation program

The Methodist Church of Ghana, Gethsemane Society in Baatsona, has joined a growing number of religious institutions implementing waste segregation at source on their premises.

The decision came after a team from Jekora Ventures Limited educated the congregation on good sanitation and waste management practices on Sunday, June 16, 2019. This was in response to a call by the church to be educated on existing proper waste management options and on waste valorization.

The Presentation

Jekora was represented by Mr. Ebenezer Nartey-Tokoli (Finance Manager), Mrs. Martha Adjoa Nartey (Innovations Manager), and Mr. Emmanuel Chainortey (Segregation Officer).

During the presentation, Mrs. Martha Adjoa Nartey stressed the need to be custodians of the environment and to start segregating waste at the source of generation as immediate steps toward integrated and sustainable waste management.

Supporting the Initiative

To support the church's commitment, Jekora donated four color-coded labeled bins to aid in the proper segregation of waste. The bins will help the congregation separate their waste into appropriate categories, making recycling and proper disposal more effective.
